tengrams are brothers alessandro and davide, who collectively have a deep and long understanding of dance music. davide is a co-founder of n.o.i.a, one of italy s first electronic live acts to perform and record with drum machines and synthesizers as early as 1978. he was also behind seminal italo outfit klein + m.b.o and proto house hit dirty talk. since then they have released under an array of aliases, have clocked up numerous club hits and this new project brings them back to their electronic roots, with influences like sci-fi movies and old school electro and italo looming large. -devious- is a very breezy and energetic track with a rolling arpeggio and rich keyboards section over a simply but groovy tr-808 pattern. classical italo space disco sound updated to nowadays. -translucent- sounds like a dreamy electro-ballad heavily influenced by kraftwerk. -pop song- keeps the same 80 s electro vibes with simple, wistful melodies and a great funk bass line. -disco dub- is a pretty damn cool early eighties electronica, with a great pumping -robo-funk- linndrum!

imogen have stumbled across a rare gem here, presenting some previously unheard liquid funk jams from the lesser known chicago pioneer james perri. some of his jams as jimi polo are perennial classics, while his time spent in soul ii soul and elsewhere are testament to his gifts, but this particular set of recordings from the 90s have lain in wait for their time to shine. you can hear his skills as a session musician and arranger coming through in abundance on this warm, grooving, acid jazz inflected ep. 70s theme is a sparse, moody jazz funk cut, while brother beware is a smooth, sultry slice of message soul. express yourself is the truly uplifting slice of the pie, and it will chime just fine with any lovers of that classic soul ii soul sound.

those wizards of digging psychemagik doing the business once again. hot on the heels of last year s monstrous gotta hold on me / wildman they re letting folks know that they were still out there searching in the darkest recesses of the last 40+ years of popular and unpopular music, and boy oh boy are they good at it! the trip lives up to it s name. the track kicks off with some ultra beefed up psychedelic shenanigans, swirling, cacophonous sounds whirl and sweep and gradually drag us into the holographic tunnel, gradually giving way to some heavyweight drums and percussions and unfurling into a muscular psych-discoid beast. this one will send the kids crazy and will undoubtedly cause some damage in the club, both sonically and mentally. but what is the original? we hear you say... answers on a postcard please. sisters of the moon on the flip-side is a very different animal - all laid back, laconic steel-guitars and thundering slo-mo drums and percussion. the dark side of a rural witchcraft dream exposed here, almost menacing... and then? those vocals spring out of the mix amidst the throbbing sexually charged atmosphere and drag us back into the realm of near reality with sultry moans and groans. this one s woozy alright, but in the best possible way. so wrong, it s right and possibly the natural soundtrack to too many of those strange shots that that guy in the weird hat gave us earlier when we entered that country pub. what guy? i hear you ask.... ultimate freak-disco and deepest druid funk for the discerning and psychedelically inclined record consumer.

the levels of deep that trinidadian deep can reach with his sound are almost unfathomable, and he s at it once again for deepartsounds. as if he needed any help getting down low, sarignia bonfa lends her steamy vocals to i need you- and the trademark trini sound gets into a whole new realm of sensuality. fusion pulls things out of the boudoir and into the sunlight, bringing some of that infectious, uplifting soul to the table that he made his name on. future funk places some synths at the front of the mix and sharpens the edges of the drumming, giving the brain one last blast before allstarr motomusic steps up for a remix of i need you that goes down very smooth indeed.

edmondson first came to my attention with his lobster theramin distributed release, flamingo tripper, on his own label lissoms. or so i thought. turns out he was actually a guy who used to serve me in one of my favourite pubs in newcastle. back in those days he was a dub step / drum and bass kid, and as per the trend with all of those guys, hes now showing the house heads how its done, with a much keener feel for sound design, groove and a better ear for a sample than 90% of us lazy people who cut our teeth on a 4/4 beat. edmondson (or sean as i did know him and how i know him once again) is really one of the most exciting producers out there right now for me, and i couldnt be happier that weve reconnected and hes kindly allowed me me me to present some of his amazing music. we have love is an instant classic, and psg is a work of pure emotive art. to remix we have love, ive enlisted dauwd (fresh from his amazing album on technicolour). sean suggested him, and i jumped on the suggestion as he was one of the first people i met when i moved to berlin 4 years ago, and ive been trying to figure out a way of working with him since. he takes a we have love down a kind of more delicate and steppy route. its very pretty, but also really makes you want to dance. to remix psg i asked asok. again, i thought i first met asok about 7 or 8 years ago, when he came and played for a party i used to throw in newcastle. after becoming good friends over the years, we got chatting and it turned out that we were both in magaluf in 1998, and may have actually been involved in the same street brawl. thats not something either of us are proud of, but its definitely food for thought. i’m biased, but i think his remix is my favourite thing he’s ever done, and i love everything he’s touched musically to date, so thats probably an even bigger endorsement than it first seems. his version is big.

the second modugroove installment from the 100hz studio is a mixture of live improvised session recordings and arranged music taken also from live studio recordings. 2 tracks are collaboration projects with good friends of mine who happen to be great artists. we have 1 from richard rogers aka black booby and myself and 1 from julian giles and me aka junction chaos. this 4 track ep spans several styles of music from deep techno to graceful and emotive string dance. the focus of the ep and the label is the unusual, trying to not use usual drum patterns and 4 beat structures

after a first ep of the year from stl, the solar phenomena label now welcomes romania’s romansoff. the raw tools label boss hails from bucharest and has also released his gritty, stripped back house and techno on creme organization and sportiv. here he offers four new tracks, with one remix from timedance man ploy completing the package.
halo epitomises romansoff’s style with its slow, heavy drums and sparse, scattered perc sounds. a lo-fi melody adds colour, while coach jacket ups the ante with busier claps and crashing hits laid over a turbulent, unsettled bassline. increasing the pressure further, graded grows manic with punchy drums, layers of fuzzy synths and bass and distant cries that are dark and unsettling. ploy flips this one into a prickly and atmospheric drum track that keeps you on edge.

milan, italy, 1983. in the midst of the 80s economic boom, which gave an injection of optimism after the heavily political 70s, a group of young local musicians meet every night in a basement to rehearse and record a peculiar breed of italian disco music. originated from the ashes of various other projects, and rooted in the broader jazz-funk tradition, the group creates music which is equally inspired by contemporary fusion as well as by the first wave of the italo-disco sound. over approximately 3 years the band has recorded and played live, until the dismantling of the project towards the mid 80 s. fast forward 35 years and the genuinely mediterranean flavor of qvark s demo recordings are still enjoyable, both for the actual resurgence of the italian disco tradition and for the groovy quirkiness of a project which has been too long forgotten. after an intense work of audio restoration of such tapes, heavily affected by time, early sounds is pleased to present a compilation which is an important find to define the sound of late 70 s and early 80 s italian club sound.-

two of dance musics hottest producers coalesce on the latest hot creations release. frank storm and matteo spedicati bring us gimme tha honey, a throbbing three-track ep that gifts us with a rework from robsoul label boss phil weeks. frank storm reveals -this is our first collaboration which was born a year ago in our studio in barcelona. we share the same passion for our own definition of the ghetto sound, blending fresh and techy vibes.” with this inspiration they weave an almost menacing vocal into the pulsating bassline of lead track gimme tha honey. the phil weeks remix brings a slither of light with a shower of synths and warm, bubbling bass. the ep closes with the long wait shaking the record into heavier terrain, as the industrial keys are underpinned by a flurry of tough drums. frank storm has been a key player on the white isle having played at some of the island’s biggest clubs, space, sankey’s, pacha, ministry of sound and zoo project, as well holding down a residency at the night unusual suspects. matteo spedicati began releasing music in 2006 and has received support from ricardo villalobos and richie hawtin. since then he’s gone on to work with such high profile names as joseph capriati and mendo, as well as releasing records on an abundance of top labels.

late last year, we modestly celebrated the sixth anniversary of lph records by releasing a 10-inch that reconnected us with our very first ep by bringing back two of the artists who contributed to it, runaway and soft rocks. now, as a sort of companion to that, we have lph___vi , a 7-inch that gives shine to a couple other names that have been spotted on lph party flyers of old and back catalog credits, jacques renault and daniel t. both these are fun, flavorful little disco nugs united by funky bass guitar fretwork and plenty of sassy woodblock, though jacques leans towards the goofy and daffy, whereas daniels brings some synth-pop seriousness into the frame. as befits the format, both hover around four minutes in length.

for our second ep, we are shifting from manila, philippines, to our other home city, bangkok, the thai kingdom’s capital. hailing from here is dott, one of three founders of more rice, a truly home grown bangkok electronic producer, dj and the talent behind mah noi ep. dott already has a number of releases under his belt and is now a regular on the asian circuit, playing gigs around the region. at 26 years old this is quite impres- sive and we are very proud to be releasing his first pressed record under more rice.
mah noi ep embodies dott’s sound, which is deep, driven and moody, whilst keeping an organic twist throughout and clearly inspired by his home country, the key to setting the release apart and making it tasty for more rice. the careful and precise placement of vintage thai samples gives it that extra flavour and mystery that can engulf the listeners and dancers, whilst the remix by eric volta truly transports you to another dimension.

beginning in the early 90s, emmanuel top became france s first techno superstar, even if his popularity was greater in countries like germany and england than his own. he released a multitude of 12inches on the attack label la pipe a eau, krankenhaus, ecsta-deal, stress, turkish bazar, and many more many of which are compiled on the triple-disc release collection from 1995. top s next step took him to nova mute alongside heavyweights like plastikman. in addition to his solo work, top also collaborated with bruno sanchioni and bruno quartier in the mid to late 90s as the trance act b.b.e. (seven days and one week) and also as age of love (the original age of love).

sis, the alias of burak sar, returns once again to crosstown rebels. following on from releases such 2012s round pen, 2015s sombra india and last years the blindside, the german-born producer heavily influenced by his turkish roots- presents us with this tribal triple-threat. sis explains that it was sending his first ever demo tape to crosstown rebels in 2004 that initiated his relationship with the label and tells us to expect some rolling dance floor breakers. karmir nur gets the ep underway. sensual strings abound with a heady, tribal chant that lulls you into a state of hypnosis. tima rolls along, building slowly as the layers pull you in deeper still towards those familiar strings. dandini brings back the tribal chanting. the vocals are backed by mesmeric drums, perfect for an intoxicating, dance floor procession. burak sar has released a number of records on renowned imprints such as get physical music, mobilee and cocoon recordings as well as running his own successful label, cocolino records.

dark entries is proud to release the debut album from bézier titled ‘parler musique’. bézier is taiwanese-american musician robert yang who is also part of the honey soundsystem crew. a multi-instrumentalist, robert grew up in southern california then planted his roots in san francisco in 2005. over the years in sf he has built an impressive analog synth-based studio, which also serves as the creative hub for his riveting live performances. parler musique clocks in at over 52 minutes with 8 tracks are spread across four sides for maximum loudness.

norwegian duo smerz had a prolific 2017, which saw the copenhagen-based henriette and catharina play the likes of club 2 club, moma ps1, sell out half life parties of their own, as well as release five new tracks along with five self-directed videos. clearly not ones to wait around, smerz go in to the new year with their have fun ep on the horizon for release via xl recordings in march 2018. with their unique electronic sound blending deconstructed club music, minimalist r&b and experimental pop and techno, smerz are also prolific djs who s djing style takes a similar route. mixing live vocals over their own music and interlaced with choice cuts aimed squarely at the dancefloor, this duo dj hard in a live setting and are thrilling to watch as well as listen. smerz currently host their own monthly nts radio residency, mixing cutting-edge dance music and darker tones, in what is turning in to their trademark style.

a compilation of minimal wave from around the world (1980-1991), the bedroom tapes features rare, unreleased, and licensed tracks all the way from belgium to australia to japan. the bedroom tapes excitedly marks minimal wave’s 66th release and is a follow up in the series to the lost tapes, the found tapes, the hidden tapes and of course the minimal wave tapes. the twelve artists on this compilation mostly recorded their music onto 4-track tape in their bedroom studios. the sounds on this record range from german new wave to experimental electronic, to early industrial body music from the swedish countryside, to dreary melodic minimal synth. the theme is music recorded in the bedroom for listening in the bedroom. the bedroom tapes presents songs from pink elln, karen marks, disque omo, vorgruppe, iham/echo, perfect mother, arvid tuba, subject, denial, unovidual, aural indifference, and autumn all lovingly remastered. limited edition of 999 numbered copies, pressed on 180 gram vinyl, and housed in heavy printed jacket accompanied by printed inner jacket with artists photos and info. thank you to all the artists and friends for support in making this happen.

weekend loving from jennifer lara is a perfect blend of boogie funk, roots reggae and lovers rock. produced by black solidarity records in 1985, this album is a masterpiece from the studio one princess. recorded at tuff gong and music mountain studios in jamaica, the rhythm tracks are played by some of the best musicians from the island in the sun: lincoln style scott (drum), errol flabba holt (bass), robbye lyn (piano & synthetiser), dean frazer & ronald nambo robinson (horns). this reissue was carefully remastered from black solidarity master tape, now presented as a double lp 45 rpm dj friendly edition. the original limonious artwork was reloaded and a bonus track was added to complete the set: ’in my time’, an obscure slow synth groove, full of hope and melancholy. jennifer lara was first taken to studio one in 1969 by keyboardist richard ace, who was a session musician. she never left the studio one family and became resident harmonist. she added backing vocals to the songs of some of the camp’s biggest names, including delroy wilson, freddie mcgregor, dennis brown and sugar minott. in 1974, jennifer lara recorded her debut album with coxsone dodd at studio one in brentford road. the results of the sessions appeared on studio one presents jennifer lara, which was an instant success. jennifer lara was one of clement coxsone dodds protégés. one year after coxsone passed, she died at the kingston public hospital. she is survived by two children, daughter ika and son cheka. jennifer lara was a very likeable person, got on with everyone. she was involved in many benefit concerts to help to poor and the needy in jamaica. may your soul rest in peace, we love you jennifer.

this is a great sophomore effort by this scottish outfit. the singer has a unique semi-quavering voice with a melodramatic quality that suits the music and would equally suit him on stage in a musical. some songs are aggressive but with a dark hue. opening cut -a leaving song- finds sutherland carving his way through jangly and buzzing guitars set to a skittery beat with a touch of the theatrical. closing is -home-, a forlorn ballad with sutherland delicately pleading -please let me come home-, elegiac and sweet.

when daniel kyo was producing galaxy in his studio he stood up and felt it. following several months of what he calls a -musical reset-, he knew he d hit something special. after releasing music for a decade, core might be the boldest step in his career. a new identity in which all his influences finally come together into an absolutely fresh perspective. melodies are still the main driving force of the five cuts in galaxy , but the approach is more raw and heartfelt, injecting the kind of vivacity that determines if a track it s simply a product of it s time or if it becomes timeless. borrowing elements from the cosmic side of techno, the darkest corners of trance and the glacial atmospheres of synthwave, all of the tracks in this ep ooze the kind of immediacy and transcendence you can only find in the best 90 s dance music. driven by is interest in astronomy, daniel says he tried to achieve an -outer space feeling-, we can only add that embracing the void was never so gratifying. the 12- comes housed in a sleeve designed by barcelona-based artist alicia carrera.

the pampa, filled with enigmatic lines and geoglyphs known as nazca, gives name to this record label. nazca records was created to collect the music that viracochas (beings of other worlds), shared with the ancient nazca people, known for their love for music, dance and nature. these recordings represent the music that was once played in another time and that will be played again in the future…they are the memories of the future. each vinyl and recording tells a story of the memories from each ceremony that took place in the pampa colorada, from music that was played, and of the figures and lines that the nazcas used to show their gratitude to the viracochas. maybe you’re wondering how its possible or how we were able to capture those recordings in nazca records to then press to vinyl. it has been discovered that if an intelligent or exotic species wanted to connect to others, they would use radio signals as they can travel any distance and require very little energy to send. the logical wave frequency to communicate would be 1420 megahertz, which is the frequency irradiated by the neutral hydrogen, when its atoms interact between each other. based on this info and knowing that hydrogen is the most abundant element in space, and after a lot of tries, in the end we were finally able to make the first contact with the viracochas! this third vinyl contains recordings of the viracocha thodoris triantafillou. a disc, a journey, a history, a contact narrated along 2 tracks and completed by the remix of one of the most famous viracochas remembered love over entropy.

the grand, sweeping sonic explorations of “pretoria”, from john matthias and jay auborn’s 2017 album “race to zero”, are given new life on this four-track remix ep.
moon gangs (better known as william young, keyboardist in bristol-based electronic outfit beak>) takes the reins first, delivering a thunderous take on the original’s faster-paced second half. typically of the artist, the track builds and builds in intensity, climaxing with an apocalypse of emotional, layered synths.
bristol’s cuts strips back the elements for a much darker reworking. a single, repeating piano note echoes into wide, open space alongside the original’s antique violins before clattering percussion and synths enter the mix for the most foreboding turn of the release.
closing the ep, former mogwai member john cummings also bases his reinterpretation around the original’s piano. but where cuts leans on moody darkness, cummings take is more upbeat, courtesy of a driving four to the floor kick and fidgety, high-pitched piano.

as featured on feeling nice vol.4, we thought it is well worth to re-release frederick knight s -steppin down- on 45 too. even better, the b-side -heart complication- is a monster deep-soul track which many of you may have not heard yet. we here at tramp re-release good music, whether it is rare or not. this one is indeed rare so get your hands on it before all copies are gone.

originally released as part of eskimo recordings acclaimed compilation the red collection, dutch duo shmlsss train ride to the middle east has proven to be a perennial favourite with openminded djs attracted to its heady psychedelic brew of twisted disco and middle eastern sounds. now to kickstart 2018 eskimo are releasing the track on vinyl for the first time, complete with a brand new remix from marvin & guy.

a new year means new musical horizons here at the bordello. curses formed his sound in the distortion and sweat of back alley dive bar bars amidst the crash of guitars and the audible gulp of beer. hints of disco and wave balance this rougher edge, smoothing down those creased lines for a style that adheres to no boundaries. -pedal to the metal and don t look back- is a perfect introduction to curses multifaceted sound. beats orbit burbling bass and brash strings in a work of dreamy hypnotics. -knife in teeth- comes from a similarly shadowy lair. dark bars are further inked by industrial percussion in a track born on the factory floor to strict ebm parents. terr takes on -pedal to the metal and don t look back- and does the original proud. bass rumbles to the tune of a guttering engine before lighter notes take hold. murky currents are cleared by bright synth blasts in this uplifting remake. the bird of paradise closes the ep with his psychedelic take on -knife in teeth.- drums take on a more sinister tone as tribal rhythms give rise to jungle imagery and the immediate threat of what might lurk behind those supposedly innocent sounds.

this is an exploded drawing, unlocked from time: nhk yx koyxen walks at any speed and on any surface he desires to trance-scend. his “parallel tempo ep” takes a mindful plunge into layers of rigorously murmuring gestures. as speed and size are streched and bent, the planes engage in parallel movement. artist and producer nhk yx koyxen has been unveiling his unique vocabulary through a continuous stream of sound for many years. performing on electronic music’s timeless dna, he offers those who step in a resonating space, in which loose objects are bound to embrace each other.

fuzzed out and psychedelic covers of rare and classic tracks performed by san francisco’s monophonics. monophonics are back with a six-song ep that fuses the complimentary and explosive soul, rock and funk influences, proving themselves to be the rightful inheritors of the bay area’s impressive psychedelic soul sound. mirrors is comprised entirely of cover tunes, except that i doubt you’ve ever heard of half the deeply funky and soulful originals that inspired these soulful, tastefully produced, and timeless monophonics treatments. “we wanted to do a couple songs that were more familiar to people and then shine some light on groups we’re big into,” lead singer, keyboardist and co-producer kelly finnigan explains. it takes a lot of guts to cover your favorite songs, your van jams, that song you play as a shot of inspiration to break-up a marathon studio session. “not only are these great songs, but these are artists that we listen to and are influenced by.”

oaaaar again! tiger & woods are back with the follow up to unleashed tapes. flipping two sides of the same coin i.e. the tiger sound. volume 2 is as tough as it is tender. chili dip is a variation on the classic micro-boogie-sampling turned italian touch peak-time banger theme adrenergic! moonswing on the other side, takes it nice and easy: 10 minutes of tension and release. hang on, hang on!

nanni and francois le roy are both accomplished producers and djs in their own right. together as ruff stuff they make extremely well produced tracks that always have one thing in common – making dancefloors go crazy. after starting their own vinyl-only imprint (ruff stuff music) with four fully sold out releases, we are excited to get four banging disco house heaters that work equally well as dj tools and at a house party.
implementing their knowledge gained as hard-core clubbers throughout the 90s, nanny and francois make tracks that they know will evoke strong reactions from the dance floor. this release is equal parts thumping, driving, peak-time house and bright and beautiful disco bangers with a bit of italo flare! with its beautifully worked afro samples mixed perfectly with techno-infused house drums and hats, “kiss of death” is set to be huge on dancefloors from the clubs in berlin and london to the open fields of dekmantel and dimensions.

we are super glad and honored to welcome an awesome producer in our family: eduardo de la calle. eduardo is not a beginner, hes been releasing music since 2001 on some of the most exciting labels on the globe: plane e, international dj gigolo, turbo, hivern, mule or nonplus… this 4 tracker is a perfect summary of what eduardos music is about: techno, incredible atmosphere and sonic landscapes. here, no fancy titles just numbers, remembering us whats the most important in this: music.

last summer during an evening spent with my friend dj topha, we came upon the everlasting subject of old versus new. i m finding so much great music right now, and not just digging back in time but exploring our own timeline geographically too, he said, the level of production these days is rising fast. you have to check out these snippets from a new label based in casablanca. not long after, in an interesting twist of fate, driss bennis and i began to exchange music: i shared his soundcloud for the first casa voyager release, and he sent me a promo copy which i played out a lot. it seemed only logical to ask him for music for basic moves. later that summer we met in paris for a convivial back to back at dawidu s shop, te iubesc records and sapology. it was as simple as that, and in a few weeks basic moves 04 was ready. night train and overseas blew me away by their quality - the tracks are retro-esque yet fresh, and stem from a loose approach to electro. their arrangements are very smart, not everything is revealed the first time round. the more you listen, the more you understand that the power of the tracks lies in the details. together with ailsa s artwork, stefan s cut and chris mixes the release fell so smoothly into place. i have come to realise how important it is for the scene to release recently produced music as well as treasures from the past. you can t build a community by only playing old records. it s about a combination, about finding gems that glide together. old and new. and for that, i think both these dj booth tracks really fit the bill.

this initial release on the new futurepast label marks davy’s first output as a producer, crystallizing his endeavours in the studio and bearing witness to his long-standing experiments in electronic music. built between london and berlin over the last four years, the long now lays down the blueprints for following ventures on the label: using old and new gear to create unique, obscure soundscapes both outside of memory and away from nostalgic projections of lost futures. in a timeless and precise collaboration, davy has brought together two historical figures for this release: 1990s r&s records associate david morley mixed the tracks, while simon davey of the exchange lent his renownedmastering skills to the project. temporality, time travel and perception are key concepts for davy, and not only in the ep’s title. the four stripped-down tracks move forwards, sidewards and backwards in a bid to get us lost – not in space but in what time might sound like should we be swimming through it. mysterious and ageless synths mesh with the beats of an unnamed drum machine under davy’s control. we move through a non-linear story told by three distinct forward-thinking techno titles: no memories planned, circular weeks and causal loop. finally, the titular ambient track pans out cinematically over the images left in our heads: an invitation to begin it all again in the long now...
